RE: srs light
Why do you need to know this?? SRS is the air bags non the less.
Geez... no kidding smart a$$. Simple questions require a simple answer- that all. Having worked for Mitsu for several years, there are pattern failures that can be picked up on that i could share based on the requested info. Such as that 02 Eclipse that you traded. VERY HIGH failure rate on the side airbags. Enough for them to write a TSB about it.
As for the 99's (thank you for your clarification)- you'll need to have the exact DTC read from the SRS ECU. Not sure if any aftermarket scan tools can do this (perhaps the Snap On scanner with SRS cartridge can), but this will pretty much narrow it down to what the source problem is occuring (but still needs to be verified with a little testing). Could be anything from an actual impact sensor, clock spring, or even an airbag.

RE: srs light
Hey!
OK have a 98' Lancer SEi Limited, Right hand drive, auto, 1.8L! The SRS light is on, it came on a year or 2 ago and got it fixed, cost heaps coz they changed something in the steering wheel, this was at the mitsubishi dealership! Anyone have any idea what this might be again?
Thnx in advance...
