Default starter question????

can a starter not being bolted properly cause a short or power drainage..... it to came to my attention that my mechanic only put one bolt on my starter when he replaced it.... can you amagine the crap it couldve done to my motor????but anyways,i recently put a post on here about my short problem, but after i put a bolt on the starter i left the terminals on the battery overnight till about 5:00pm today and my car started right up,but before this if i left the terminals connected for just 30 minutes it would drain...any thoughts???
