Default Stereo Systems

I am picking up my 2003 Eclipse GT Spyder convertible on Tuesday and was wondering if anyone else out there has one that they've put a system into? I have never owned a convertible and am a little bit reserved about putting one in if it's going to sound like crap.

Yeah I'm MECP certified and do a lot of systems but like I said just never heard one in a convertible. The car is actually my girlfriends and she was asking me to put the stuff in. My thought was that it probably wouldn't be worth it especially for as much as she'd use it. Just wanted to know if anyone had done it and actually got any effect with the top down. Thanks for the insight, keep it all coming!

i had a single 10 with a 400 watt amp and with the top down it sounded pretty good, obviously not as good as a hardtop, but good enough that people were like that sound pretty good for a convertible..........

Well guys, I appreciated all the feed back it kind of makes me feel better about wasting all of my time to custom mount this **** and have her never use it. But at least when I'm driving it I'll have something to bump!

I have boston acoustic speakers in my stang and that's what came in it. I used to have two twelves and it wasn't as clean of a sound as a hardtop but the speakers pushed great even on the highway with the top down.

Well I finally got done dicking around with the stealership on picking up the car, and it really doesn't sound bad with the Infinity 5 speaker system. Unfortunatly being that it's January and I'm in VT I have not been able to drop the top since it's been -7 the last 4 days. But I think I'm about convinced that it's not a complete waste installing the subs. So once I'm in nice, warm Florida and my girl saves some money I'll pop in some bump. Thanks for the input.
