i love crankwalking talk. Maybe its more common in manuals because people with manual transmission rev there cars at a higher RPM.

KEEP THE CRANKWALK TALK COMING.

Crankwalk is also more common in standards because there are more parts adjusting back and forth right next to the engine.

4g63 cons...
The 7-bolt is prone to crankwalk which absolutely kills the motor and most people solve it with a 6-bolt swap from a 1st generation eclipse/talon turbo
I'm sure there are more but that is the main one that I could think of.

Craaaaaaaaankwaaaaaalk?
I dont understand what that is. 6/7 bolt what? crank. no understando

nevermind about that part. i found its on the flywheel....but what does the amount of bolts on the flywheel have anything to do with anything?

I dont think the # of bolts has anything to do with it, it is just the fact that the 7 bolt motor has a factory oiling problem and causes the crank to move and "walk" which will trash you motor all 7 bolts are prone to possibly get it, but not all do the 7 bolt came in all 92.5-99 DSM turbo cars. proir years to that had the 6 bolt which did not have the oiling problem and no walking problem.

The 7 bolt reference yes it IS the # of bolts that hold the flywheel in place but No it has NO effect on the engine. It is merely the easiest way to determine whether your block is susceptible to crankwalk or not. It's a minor difference and the only difference that is visibly notable to tell an engine apart from another. I.E. you look at a 7 bolt and a 6 bolt and keep the flywheel covered you'll never be able to figure out which is which.
