Swap?

RE: Swap?
You're right about not having to replace the whole motor or bottom end or even the head. But in the starting thread he talked about wanting to do low 12, 1/4 mile runs, right?
So I gave him the option of throwing a 2.4l into the engine bay.

You can do low 12's with the 4G63 just needs a bit of work and a bunch of $ to pull it off. I'd keep the block that's in there and rebuild it for performance Though I don't think I'll be able to do the same w mine I think a valve went thru a piston on my engine

RE: Swap?
actually the 1g head flows a lot better than a 2g head, for a much better top end. 2g heads are small, so they have better low end power and die towards redline. but you arent noticing that he has a 97 gs, which means he has a dodge neon motor and not a 4g63. That motor will never run 12's with $5000. He should fix the motor and sell it if he wants to be fast.

RE: Swap?
The 4G63 is a popular engine block that was stock in most 90+ Eclipses and the Gallant's I believe was teh other car that used it alot. It's a rather popular 4 cylinder engine can easily and readily find performance parts for it and upgrade to get decent power out of it.
