well really the only thing a talon has over an eclipse is the body style of the 95. but the eclipse is lighter isn't it?

There's alot more then just body pannels that make the difference. The 1g 4g63 is commonly known as a 6 bolt motor(bolts on the flywheel) the 2g 95-99 4g63's were 7 bolt motors (7 bolts on the flywheel). The 2g motor had a little more horses than the 1g motor but BUT the 2g motor if not take care of properly can crankwalk. Not every 7 bolt crankwalks, its not uncommon tho. Crankwalk is when the conecting rods wobble a bit back and forth on the crank and creat this clicking noise by the timming belt. Ths is why many people that have a 7bolt car and wish to go really fast are know to take out the 7 bolt and drop in the 6 bolt. Its like any other motor swap theres electrical wires that need to be spliced into the new system. In all If you looking to put down some serious power go with the 1g if your looking to go fast and look good while doing it go with the talon.

jus for reference 6 bolts are 89-mid 92, after the the rest of the 1g's were 7 bolts as well.

So it's just up to the buyer just like everything else as to what's better, what's not. and you can't prevent crankwalking by taking care of the engine?

well from what i understand.. DSM correct me if im wrong but the chance of your motor crankwalking CAN be reduced. dont sit at stop lights with the clutch in for an hour, FREQUENT oil changes... make sure your oil pan doesnt dented up.. check your oil often.. and overall not raping your car should help prevent crankwalk..
