Default THrew My CEL

Just a few minutes ago.

(1995 Eclipse GST 5-Speed)

I was driving from my house to my office. It's about a 45 mile drive, or so. I got off the freeway, and stopped at the bank. I was inside the bank for about 10-15 minutes. When I came back out, everything seemed to be fine. I started my car just fine, and everything seemed okay. I pulled out onto the street, and then came to my first light. My car started to idle between 1500-2000 RPM's. ANd after a second or two, my CEL light came on. No sputtering, nothing. It's not acting up at all. I turned the car off, and back on, thinking it may go off, and it was a mistake...but, none the less, it's still on.

A few days ago, I adjusted my BISS, because I was getting a little idle surge. Once I adjusted it, the car would idle perfectly. I would turn the car on, and it wouldn't surge at all, no bouncing, or hunting. Did I maybe set the idle too high? I have it set between 800-1000 RPM's. Thanks in advance to your help.

Go to autozone or what ever autoparts store near you does a diagnostic scan for free and come back if with the code and I can look it up if they dont tell you what the code means

PS. the factory idle spec is 750

the code was most likely p0505, if you idle goes up past around 1300 or so and the iac cant bring it back down enough it will just throw the code. setting your biss correctly will fix it.

Checked with the OBDII, and it did read a P0505: Idle Control System Malfunction. So, just reset me BISS to 750, and my CEL will go off? Thanks a lot for all of the help!!

The CEL SHOULD go off but you may need to reset the computer by removing teh negative battery cable for a few miutes then reconnecting it.

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the help. I adjusted the BISS to 750, and I erased the code, and haven't had a problem since. Again, thanks.

Good to hear it's running good now. Hopefully you'll have no more problems.
