Trans fluid went into engine. How?

This is a follow-up to my earlier post. 97 Spyder GS, 87000 miles.
Auto trans problems. Slow into reverse, then engages with a thud. Bad idle sometimes.
Hit a component with ratchet when tightening battery clamp, it sparked. Thought that might be related. (Please see earlier post on auto trans...)
Then...
I had checked auto trans fluid last week it was OK. Checked it today and fluid was at very bottom of dipstick. But engine oil was way overfull.

Drained crankcase -- got 8 qts. Definitely 2 liquids with different properties draining out.

Changed filter and replaced with 4.5 qt fesh oil.

Added 2.5 qt ATF to trans to bring level to full hot.

Coolant level is unchanged.

Is there a component that could fail and allow engine vacuum to draw off the trans fluid? This used to happen with Corvairs, the vacuum modulator diaphragm would fail and the fluid would be drawn into the engine. But the old powerglide was a lot simpler than the trans in the spyder.

Would appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Most likely auto trans. Fluid was put in the wrong entry.
