transmission strength
hey men. just a few questions...i've heard a few times from different people to get a new clutch right away when buying an eclipse, is there a reason for this? how bout the rest of the tranny, like that gears inside. are they strong enough to keep up with the strength of the engine at like 450hp? it almost seems like a buy an eclipse put a new clutch, a big *** turbo, a big *** fmic and ill be on my way...does that sound about right? or do i still have some learning to do? thanks for the gelp guys.
never heard of people 'getting a clutch right away' stock clutch is fine on stock turbo, once u run high boost on upgraded turbo the stock clutch will start to slip and cant hold the extra power. as for the tranny, yes it would be hard for any stock tranny to support 450hp but hardly anyone makes that kinda power. 300whp is good for solid 11's in a gsx, and the stock tranny can take that easily. then again, you could destroy a tranny with 200hp if you want. just learn how to launch and its fine.
oh and you have a lot of learning to do. research around and buy all the bolt ons you can before upgrading the turbo/ic. by then you will know what to do.

i don't know of a transmission in any car that could hold 450hp in its stock form.....well maybe a Supra.
