Turbo Intake Question
On the turbo intake there is a black box that I assume is all the computer. (I'd go look in the box right now, however the car's at the shop)
What is this black box? am i correct to assume it's comptuter stuff for the car ie factory turbo spooling guage? Can it be removed? any conciquences?
Thanks.

That black box is the Mass Air Flow Sensor. No it can not be removed, the car will not run with out it. Thats what tell the computer how much air is coming into the motor so it can give proper fuel. There are many options to getting rid of it or even changing it. You can get the GM MAF, which is a MAF replacement. Or you can go with a total stand alone management where no MAF is needed. I might be missing a few other facts, but thats the quick run down, its to late for me to do anymore thinking
What black tubing are you refering to? The intake or the MAF sensor? You can replace the intake but you'll have to put the MAF sensor into the new one (So don't throw it out with the old intake). Any well made intake will already be set up to take the MAF when you get it. If you're talking about removing the MAF itself you don't want to do that unless like the other guys said you get a stand alone system to trick the computer into thinking it's getting the right amount of air. Remember if you go the stand alone route you'll want to get it tuned. Dyno time will probably be a must for this. I think I'm getting that right... Anyone else help me out here?
I think he is asking about the black stock intake which i believe is a rubber type material. Correct me if i'm wrong. And on his car when he gets a new intake it will still keep the MAF in the same place that it is in stock. A Chrome hardpipe will then replace the stock black hose that he is talking about. And then on the other side of the MAF, which he might have been calling the black box also, idk, theres so many
, is the stock intake box that will be removed and a cone filter will be mounted directly to the MAF. Hope this helps.

Here is a good picture of what it would look like with the intake

The peace in between the chrome pipe and the filter is the MAF.
