Default Water pump PITA!!

hey all its been some time. but the good ol' eclipse threw me another curve ball. this time i know what the problem is. and man is it a B!tch to work on. so i think total time for me and my dad just getting to the water pump its self is over 8 hours. we got it off about two days ago i had to work so the project is on hold. and we are going to put that valve cover gasket on probably in the after noon today. oh and i looked in my #1 spark plug area and there was oil. the plug looked fine, but there was some oil sitting. my dad said it was most likely because my valve cover was leaking. soooo... i didnt fall off the face of the earth completly guys. god that job sucks.

hah. Ya that water pump is a pita. It gets a little easier each time you do it though

And ya, its pretty common to see that valve cover gasket leaking. Your dads prolly right, there are those smaller ring looking gaskets that are around the spark plug holes.. Not a big deal just a little bit of wrench time

i couldnt believe it bolts that were like 4-5 inches long in a area that i could barley fit my hand. constant lifting and lowering that side of the motor we might get it put back together in a few days.

These cars really arent that hard to work on. Actually they are some of the easiest.

8 hours? That blows.

i agree, i would replace the timing belt and tensioner as well since youll be removing it. Have you had your head gasket go on you yet? Cuz with all the stuff you have off right now i dont think youd be too far from having that off to be replaced.

Maybe a garage can swap a motor in 8 hours.. Thats with all of the right tools and a lift.. The average person on these forums wont even be close to 8 hours..
