Default What is this?

I have flipped through my haynes manual and can not find what this piece is. Asking because something odd happened this morning. The horn in my car has been removed (working on it) but when I went to get in my car this morning an alarm started going off. It was not my car alarm I turned it off with the remote, but a very loud horn honking alarm and my headlights were flashing. The sound was coming (to the best of my hearing) from this or underneth it. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to shut off and then everything was fine. I am talking about the thing to the right of the battery bracketed to the strut tower, and the hose coming out of it going to something else on the fire wall.

I may be wrong here, but that to me looks like the vacuum operated cruise control solonoid.

Pull the fuse on the brain for the alarm. Some times alarms go bad, when I first got my car the alarm wasent working right so I removed the fuse and she started right up... eventually I just ripped out the whole assyembly.

My alarm horn is an aftermarket clifford. The horn is other side of the engine bay. But the sound that was coming out of that area (in pic) was horn sound (like a toyota Echo), not a mitsu horn. I have never herd it before.

The exact same thing happened to me. I just disconnected the negative terminal off the battery for AT LEAST 5 min, to reset the cars memory, and then reconnected it, and then it worked. Everytime I opened up my door it did the same thing. Now it doesnt do it anymore.

Do you know what it is. I don't have a horn on my car and the alarm is one that has the siren sounds.

Happened to me one time. Sounds like when you lock your door, your security mode goes on. Look for a red or green light on the dash that says security. If you put the key in the door and unlock it, it should shut it off. Only thing that I can think of man.
