97-99 GSX! If not next best, would be 95-99 Eclipse GST or GSX.

it all depends on what style you like. If you like the 1st gen eclipse style then your look for a 1990-1994.

then if you like the 2g eclipse style your looking for a 1995-1999
http://www.overboost.com/images/121/thumb/1999gsx.jpg
Now the reason he said 97-99 is because they changed the styling a bit from the 95-96 with a new front bumper and headlights.

Now once you decide what style you want then you gotta choice between a non-turbo version (RS,GS) or a tubo version (GST,GSX) where the gst is front wheel drive and GSX is all-wheel drive. Now of course everyone here will say to just get the turbo because its alot faster and mod friendly, but its really up to what your price range is and what kinda speed your looking for.

Oh and then of course there is the 3g eclipse

this one they came in either a 4 cylinder (RS,GS) and a 6 cylinder (GT,GTS) both non-turbo. Now these have really been dropping in price since the new 4g eclipse's so you could probably get one of these for about the same price as a good condition 2g GSX but its all about what your looking for

Are you a speed or a comfort person? Are you a ricer?

well i think what he meant was... if you are going for best possible looks and don't really care about speed... that's how i was at first, i wouldn't call myself a ricer, i do have performance upgrades to it and i didn't overkill or go overobard on the car so... i'd just say i'm all show and no go, but that'll soon change

Why not get an 06 or 07 GT. I can testify it's fast for stock, and looks awesome.
