reguardless of what the stock turbo can hold, the stock smic doesnt really do anything past 17 or 18 psi.

you dont really need a TT. All you have to do is let your car run alittle after youve just run the car hard to allow the turbo to cool. 30 sec to a 1 minute will do

ya turbo timers imo are a waste of money. if you dont have the time to sit around for 30 seconds after your done beating on your car, you shouldnt be driving it

TTs are a good and cheap investment. Considering some costs under $125. Compare that to the cost of a turbo. You guys are right about sitting in the car for a minute, but if you're in a rush, have your girl with you, or just forget to sit there for just a moment are you going to turn it back on to give it a minute to cool off? Some might consider a TT insurance for a longer life for their turbo. For you guys with the smaller turbos, such as the 16G and its variants, a TT is your friend since your/our turbos are ALWAYS spooling.

I was in the same boat as you guys saying that a TT is a waste of time and money, but mine earned its time in my car the first month of having it. I couldn't tell you how many times I went through the motion of just shutting off my car because I forgot, was in a rush, had the wife with me, it was just too hot out, or just set the time higher so that I could take the key out and lock the doors via alarm. I call my TT insurance.

what about one tuned with those mods on DSM Link. That's what I'll be running soon and I have seen so many videos of them beating respected cars. Hard to believe it's only in the 250WHP range, but maybe the tune would help A LOT!

Maybe you might see somewhere in the 270-280 area, but i really doubt youll see anything better than that. The best you are realistically going to get from the 14b on a safe running car is the low 13's....maybe high 12's and that is pushing the turbo to the limit

Ok i just did a quick calc using the effective flow rate of a 14b and came out somewhere around 280HP. However remember this doesnt take into account for drivetrain lose. This would be crank HP. Also this only assumed the effective HP range. If you really push it you may get 310hp to the crank at the max. So that again leaves you in the 250-280 range and dont be expecting anything further.

If you go with a 16g you would increase your total max flow rate by 36%. which is somewhere like 95hp more. this is why so many people just upgrade because the 14b really is not much of an upgrade from the T25
