i just bought a 1996 eclipse gs-t with a blown motor and no transmission.. i know the generation 2 eclipse gs-t and talon tsi both have the 4G63T engine, but are the motor mounts different with these two cars? can i used an engine from the AWD tsi too without dealing with transmission/motor mount problems? if so, does anyone know a good place online i can find an engine?

check dsmtrader.com... they have a toooon of motors and trannies and stuff on there... and if you want a new one check out mitsubishigraveyard.com... i got a brand new rebuilt/repainted tranny from there for $900 shipped to my door, so they'll hook you up. Just give them a call or email them or something

You can use an engine from a 90-99 eclipse(gst/gsx)/talon(tsi/tsi awd) but you cant use the tranny from an awd. My suggestion is to try and find a 6 bolt block from a 90-93 eclipse since youll be starting from scratch its good to start with the best motor you can get.

magnus motorsports has a whole write-up on the swap... no you don't need new mounts... it's basically the same motor as the 7 bolt, only it has 6-bolts holding the flywheel, different oil squirters inside the block, and a couple of other different things internally i believe... it's much much less prone to crank walk like the 7-bolt is... here's the write-up on the swap
