IT wont Start!!
i really ran into a pickle here guys. i have 96 eclipse spyder gs all stock. recently changed the head gasket so when we put everything together. started and it ran rough. turned it off and turned it back on and it didn't want to start anymore. number one piston at tdc and all marks are lined up. and it still wont start. my dad thinks its flooded. you guys got any ideas?

we did put the gasket in correctly. if the head isn't torqued to specs would it cause it to not start? Ive been searching around and found that the torque specs for it is 14.5 but when we tighten the head bolts, we tightened them at 12 because we were afraid of stretching the bolts or even worse stripping the thread. so we are not sure if its 14.5 or what.

What about the cam position sensor? I always hate to take shots in the dark, so any other info would help. I assume that if your dad thinks its flooded that you are smelling fuel? So we can probably rule out a fuel issue. Having the torque a little off should not affect its running unless they are too loose to support compression. It sounds like there IS a timing issue. Maybe you have the marks lined up, but there is an outside issue affecting it's ability to fire. You Probably have already looked several times, but go through the engine bay and make ABSOLUTELY sure you have reconnected EVERYTHING. In my experience there has always been something I missed when I get no fire after a rebuild.

ok so i check the entire engine for anything that is off or loose, but i found nothing. so we started to check the timing again. once we got the marks back, hoping that it was just the timing. we tried to start it and still nothing. it sounded like it wanted to start but it wouldn't. here is a link to a quick video i took of it.

Is the cam position sensor set correctly or did you even have to remove it? You didn't mention it. If I remember correctly it is possible to put it on upside down. I have built three of your motor, but they were on 1g eclipses. Is there a strong smell of fuel? Are your fuses all intact? perhaps there is one that blew when you reconnected the battery, perhaps fuel pump?

no i didn't have to remove the cam position sensor. all we did was replace the head gasket. we did buy new head bolts, and also there is the smell of gas. also ive been searching around online for the positions of the plug wires. it was 4-3-1-2. please tell me that this correct.
