Default 01 eclipse overheating

My 01' 3.0 eclipse runs hot when in traffic, I have put a new radiator, thermostat and water pump in it, also flushed the system, the temp still gets up to about 3/4 on the gauge, this really wouldn't be a problem but the A/C kicks off.

have you noticed any smoke from the exhaust? How about any loss of coolant in the reservoir?

is your fan motor functioning properly? If not check fuse, relay and fan switch, motor itself might be faulty. This will cause to overheat when at standstill, you have adequite airflow when driving to keep it cool. When the temp of coolant reaches close to 220F it should kick on automatically. Make sure AC is off when you look.

Hello everyone. First time on here and proud to be here. My 01 Eclipse is overheating as well. It has the same problems as described above so I will continue from here in hopes to resolve the problem and report it to the final resolve. I have changed the thermostat and checked the fans and they seem to be working properly, I have even checked with the A/C on to insure the engine fan will come on even though the A/C fan is on. Yes, it does. It does not overheat all the time. When it is not overheating it does get up to 3/4 of the way then cools down. The coolant is full and no lose of it. Any ideas??? It does not overheat when parked. Overheats in motion. Strange???????

Not strange at all.

Get a compression tester and a combustion gas head gasket check kit.

I do not mean to sound unappreciative but due to the facts, why would I need to do a compression test? The engine has not lost any power and it is not getting any antifreeze in the engine oil. I've never heard of a combustion gas head gasket check kit. Why do you think I may need it? I'm wanting to learn. I really do not understand. If the head gasket were bad would not it get antifreeze in the oil? Sorry but I do not understand the connection. Please be clear for a dummy like me. Very much thanks

when it "over heats" it cools down - the system is working.

sh*t like air con puts more strain on the engine, which will increase heat etc. turn it off.

engines were designed to run about 2500 rev and travelling 80km/h this provides cooling airflow.

feel the temp of your top and bottom rad hoses after the engine is "hot", the bottom should be notably cooler.
