02 eclipse RS suddenly stalling/dieing
hey guys, i have an 02 RS stock. never had any problems with it, until this week. it has 141,000 miles ( i just racked up 10,000 in the past 4 months) and its a 5 spd. No problems with clutch, tranny.. always been taken care of and general maintenence performed on time.
anyways. when i start my car up the belts squeal nasty, yet i just had them replaced. then anytime i take my foot off the gas, it stalls out. even when the motor is warm. it seems like the split second between shifting gears, or stopping at a light it just wants to die. Ive even had it stall on me on I-75 going 80 mph. not fun. this is my first FWD car out of 8 cars and ive NEVER had this problem before. my fiance says spark plugs, but a mechanic said everything from my cam sensor to my timing belt to my synchros, to a few other sensors. My father thinks it could be the MAF sensor or my throttle body. im new to FWD newer cars, ive always had Carb. Muscle Cars.. so anyone have any advice??
any help is seriously appreciated!!
thanks,

Well first the belt squeek can be attributed to it possibly not being tensioned correctly. So i would have that fixed because it will never stop doing it till its fixed.
And then the car stalling could be a couple things. But was there anything that was done to the car right before this started happening, or did it just randomly start doing it.
Because the first thing i always check when there is stalling issues is an air leak. Typically a vaccuum line that has worn down and leaking. So id check the sensors and hoses around the top of the engine and around the intake manifold. Then check for leaks in the gaskets, such as the throttle body gasket or the intake manifold gasket. You would probably hear those leaks.
If you had work done prior to this, then i would look in the area of it and make sure the reconnected all the hoses and the sensors. Because its also possible that a sensor is unplugged or not functioning. Something like a bad EGR sensor or IAC valve could cause these problems as well. Is there a check engine light when it starts to stall out?

it just suddenly started doing it.. so i went out there, my alternator belt was loose so i tightened it down. and i was looking around and i noticed my throttle cable was dipped down.. i grabbed it and it was loose.. so i tightened it, got in, started my car cold and it didnt stall, now its idleing at 650-750 and running perfect. thank you for the ideas! i checked the engine lights, thru the cracked dash ( thank you florida sun ) i noticed that the lights were unplugged, plugged them in and now nothing is wrong
