Post 2000 Eclipse GS AC

My AC is blowing hot, had it recharged, still blowing hot. they took the freon out and said I need a compressor. and that it would be a $500 fix. I talked to a dealer I know who said he can get me the full kit for $390 or just a compressor even cheaper if he can locate one. Does any of this sound familiar? Seems like 2000s have a ton of AC issues. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

on the same note, if it's cold out and I put my defroster on, my car doesn't shift from first to second easily. It makes a terrible sound, my RPMs shoot up, then it shifts. Its an automatic btw. Is that the compressor too? the mechanic couldn't induce it because it's been 90 out and it only happens when the car's cold. I know my AC "turns on" when my defroster is on, so I'm assuming these issues are related? Any ideas?

I had the same problem now its that i just need a condenser for my air conditioner because it doesn't cool down enough, found this out by spraying water into it after it gets hot then it blows cold till it heats back up. Check your wiring on your air compresser and see if any of them are loose or damaged, also check your relays under the hood one of them might be bad. Does your air compressor kick on at all.
