I have an 03 gs and my service engine soon light came on. I went to auto zone and this is what they printed out for me.

1. Defective,loose or missing fuel cap
2. EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected
3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4. Vacuum leak at engine


My fuel cap is not loose or missing and thats all i know. My tank is not leaking. I dont want to blow my car up by pressure being built up can that happen? and If its the Purge Solenoid my state dosent do emission checks anymore is that a necessary thing i need on my car for normal operation? Thanks. And I need to know where the Purge Solenoid is located at in my car.

 

Can someone please help me?

 

i got the same code coming up on me car, im taking it to a shop this weekend to have it looked at, ill let you know.

 

well its not a "purge solenoid"...purge means to get rid of.

 

It could be anywhere in a maze of vacuum hoses.

Take it to a mechanic to have the system filled with thick smokey stuff. That'll show where the leak is.
