Have a 2002 GTS convertible and when i'm driving on the highway with the a/c on it is fine and blows cold. But when i get into city driving Stop/go after maybe 10 minutes the a/c light starts flashing and it blows hot air. Anyone else have this problem or have any idea what may be the problem?
I've had it checked at a a/c shop and they wanted to do $1300.00 in repairs replacing the compressor etc. but I know that it is something a lot simpler than that.

the condenser is not cooling properly either because your fans aren't working or you've leaked coolant and your car is overheating. check your coolant level and radiator hoses wear they attach to the engine for leaks.
when your condenser does not cool itself properly the abnormal pressures turn the system off.

as a side note they didnt make GTS's in 02, so you either have a GT or the year is wrong

 

It is a 02 GT Spyder. Thanks for pointing that out. Now that i have the badge right my a/c works just fine.

 

Mine has began to do the same thing in the last couple of months. Sometimes i can drive it everywhere and it will never happen and other times as soon as i turn the car on it doesnt work. im not leaking coolant, and my car isnt over heating. about how much will this cost to fix?
