Default DOOKIE!!!

Got a 2000 RS and it ticks like crazy especially when I warm up, tried better gas, it helps, but never goes away, anybody know how to fix this problem?
hey, this one's for Dookie (if you couldn't tell) or anyone else that's got an answer...
dookie, did you ever find out what that ticking was and what to do about it?

its normal in most of the 4g64 in the 3Gs. useing synthetic oil and an extra 1/2 quart helps it slighly but it is alway there and annoying

Depending on exactly what it is I've also found ticking to be the rockers in some vehicles. My friend has a Taraus wagaon that just started a rocker tick. Thicker oil will help but getting the rockers fixed would be the best solution.

Well damnit tell people that SHEESH... LOL I only say that because I would rather be informed as to exactly what the problem is myself. I know it may be something those engines get but if I KNOW what the problem is I feel better you know? Not tryin to dog ya Emonz. And you know that Taurus I couldn't even figure out WHAT it was. I heard the tapping and kept trying to listen around the engine and every time I moved my head the sound changed where it came from. I used the screwdriver stethoscope method and listened to the head and various other parts and didn't hear the ticking anywhere in particular... Someone else actually caught where it was coming from LOL.

Well I think the biggest visual thing you'll find on them is cracking or bending at the end on the valve. Otherwise I don't think there is much visually you'll be able to see. Also you might be able to lash down on them a little and it MIGHT help the problem. Consult a book before doing so so that you don't surpass required torque specs.
