So I just got my car like a month ago and I have hardly been driving it. Today when i was driving it, it was very difficult to get it to up shift. I had to take my foot off the accelerator. In addition, sometimes it wouldn't shift and the car would almost redline, but not quite. It seemed as there was something stopping it from redlining in 2nd and 3'rd gear. In addition, I couldn't get the car past about 65 mph. The car was also jerking a lot at one point when it wanted to upshift but couldn't. Do Eclipses have f-ed up transmissions often. In addition, how much could this cost me.

 

is this an auto or a manual? sounds like auto since you said it wanted to shift, but figured id ask.

If you can get the car past 65 then it seems like you dont have an overdrive which is a fairly simple fix by replacing the end clutch. However your saying its having issues at lower rpms as well. Have you checked you tranny fluid and see how low it is. You might really need a tranny flush. Hooefully thats all it is. If not then you will have some major issues in which a tranny replacement would be the best bet. But try the tranny fluid first. Also id suggest having a tranny shop look at it
