Hey all, new here. I tried the search before posting just to see if anyone has a similar issue. I found nothing.

My mother has a 2001 Eclipse with a 2.4L engine. It has a problem, where when you turn the key to crank the engine, sometimes the car will do nothing at all. No crank, no click from the starter...just nothing. She has to turn the key back on and off several times before the car starts, sometimes more than others.

The battery is new.
The starter is newer.
Ignition switch is newer.
Alternator is in good working condition.
Computer was sent to repair, as we thought this was causing the problem, and though there were open lines/terminals, they were repaired and the problem persisted.

Here is what we noticed. When you turn the key and the dummy lights turn on, the car will only crank & start when the "check engine light" comes on with the rest of the dummy lights. However intermittently the "check engine light" will not come on with the rest of the lights.

Any clues on what could cause this??
