Irritating
I went to get my brakes checked (back drums). The guy took it for a test drive and said that there was nothing wrong... he said he cleaned them off and they were fine. He said that he thought it was my brake pedal making the noise. The noise is a squeak.... I mostly notice it when the car is first started.... when applying the brake. Any suggestions? Oh and the drums are rusty. Thinking I should just replace them. Oh its a 2004 Eclipse Spyder.
Thanks

So the tech stated that the actual pedal to be making the noise?
Do you hear the noise the entire time, while braking, until you stop? Or do you hear the squeak while parked and pressing the brake pedal again and again?
If you are just starting to hear the brake squeak, that is possibly the pad indicator, trying to tell you to get ready to change them out. I don't know why the rears would squeak before the front ones though. The front do the majority of the braking. If the squeak gets worse, it's most definitely the indicator. If it just goes away, you most definitely need the pads changed really soon.
I would take it to another shop and have them check the front too. Unless, it really is the pedal creaking on it's pivots. If that's the case, do as Sebba suggested and lube them.
It could also be the hand brake, if you use that everytime you stop.
Rusty drums aren't bad, they only look bad. You should change them eventually, but not in the near future, unless you just feel like it.

That nickname is kinda hot "topless". Im just glad its not a guy
If its the back ones, it could very well be the parking brake... Like silver said the front pads are usually the first to go, than the back.. And the rust wears off after driving around for a bit... With an 04 you wouldnt think it has enough wear and tear on it to be the pedal.. How many miles do you have on it?
