so i have a 2001 gt, and there is a loud clicking sound coming from it seems behind the timing cover, and it gets faster as you rev the engine..... also it quits between like 2100 and 2600 rpms.....at first i thought it was a lifter knocking but it seems way to loud to be that... ever heard of this happening?? and how can i fix this??

 

sounds like lifter tick to me. Very common on the 3g eclipse

 

hey thanks for the help.....actually i got tired of it and pulled it apart today... turns out the timing belt tensioner was shot, and the timing belt was slappin on the housing.....pass this on cuz if it would have skipped a tooth i would have been F***d to say the least
