Default loud exhoust question

hey, I have a very loud car... and just paid for my 2nd fix-it ticket without fixing the loudness ($125)
I have Invidia exhoust, CMF heads, and 1 high flow cat.
My question is:
-If I make it dual exhoust right after the cat, will that make my car quieter?
-sound like ****?
-smog issues with dual?
-any other ideas?

Thanx
- Serge

dual exhaust will quiet it down and remove some of the rasp sound as well. The thing is it needs to be quieter than 95Db and chances are invidia exhaust will not do that

I have a silencer, and i loose power when it is in... it works, but hella power is lost
I have felt the difference once when it poppedout on the freeway,
i was flooring it merging onto the freeway and it flew out at 3500 rpm...
My car jumped forward, it was hella cool!!!

I have the same issue, that is, to quiet down my exhaust. However, I bought the car used and although I know the exhaust was mod'ed, I don't know how.

So two questions. What can I look for to see how it was mod'ed? (I've called the former owner but no response yet.) Then what can I do to quiet it down? I know the second question hinders on the answer to the first question.

Ok I got the "silencer" from the previous owners. It's shaped like a "funnel" if you may, with the big-mouth part going into the muffler. It is then held by two sets of bolts/nuts. It looks like this.
Amazon.com: Removable Stainless Steel Exhaust Silencer For 4-Inch Muffler Tip: Automotive Amazon.com: Removable Stainless Steel Exhaust Silencer For 4-Inch Muffler Tip: Automotive
However, how do I install it? Seems like I'll need an alien with long skinny fingers to hold the nut inside the exhaust while I then screw and tighten the bolt onto to it. Any ideas?
