NEED HELP!!!
hey, i got an '00 eclipse RS, it's got 92k miles on it and i was gonna replace the timing belt on it. i got the haynes manual for my car (i couldn't find a chilton for my year) and so far it doesn't look like an extremely challenging task (me and 93eclipsegsx just got don replacin the exhaust valves in his car, so i think i kinda know my way around an engine now.) has anyone ever replaced their timing belt before? is it harder than it looks?
Go into the mechanical issue area of the forum here and start perusing the threads there. I remember typing out the entire proceedure to change timing belt. It doesn't seem too bad but remember to go about the testing before trying to start the car. If you test it properly you'll catch if you're off a tooth without damaging any valves.
forgot about the stupid haynes book for the 3G....it is crap. you will have better results from looking at the online factory service manual that i have posted here.
