Default Pushing down the gas pedal

So when I start my car, I can't press down my gas pedal for about 3 minutes. Anybody know what's going on and how to prevent this from happening? I can put my car into drive, but it will only creep along in first gear. After a while the gas will finally unstick and I can drive it normally. What's up with that?

if you press it harder it will pop and then you can drive. All 3Gs I have ever driven have done that and I just tap the gas hard when your first start to drive then its good from there

I've pressed pretty hard on the pedal and it doesn't want to give...I don't want to press to hard and end up damaging something. Any idea what actually causes it to stick in the first place?

Sounds like your throttle cable is getting stuck somewhere. That's definately not normal...

I dunno...once the car is running for a few mins, it'll unstick. I tried pressing on the gas pretty hard, but it wouldn't even budge until I gave it some time. I guess she doesn't like being rushed. Kind of a hassle though.

Any other ideas?

I would like to add that I have never had this happen to me either. I have had my eclipse since may 2003 so I would check the cables as suggested above.

If you have no SES light, open your hood and give your throttle body valve a push to open it manually, and if it opens up like it should(aka no resistance), it's something with your cable I beleive.

No engine light luckily. I pushed on the throttle itself and it wouldn't budge...again after a few minutes of letting it idle it finally unstuck and I could move it by hand. Before I go too crazy, I'm just gonna give it a little WD-40 to see if that helps unstick it. So at least I know it's not the cable getting caught anywhere.

Any other ideas or leads?

in cold weather all 3Gs cables 'feel' stuck on first startup if you try to drive right away. You guys I AM SURE have this you just dont notice as I said I am on my 4th 3g all of which do this. It is NOT normal to get stuck completely however it is normal for them to be stuck for a second. all you need to do tap the gas when in D or 1st (it happens to both 5spds and autos) and itshould brake past the stuck point.
