Default Consumer Reports rips the 2006 Eclipse GS

I love Cosumer Reports so I was disappointed in their review of the 2006 Eclipse GS in the December 2005 issue. They rated below the Scion, Chevy Cobalt, and Acura RSX is alomst ever possible catregory. Apparently they did not like anything expect the car's looks and something they called hatchback versitility. I would have thought twice before looking at the Eclipse before buying my GT if I had seen this review.

I noticed that all the reports i saw from car and driver hit it hard with the weight of the car they didnt point out any of the good points but everone i have talked to that has one is thrilled with them and loves the car so in this case dont let them get u down.

of course they are going to bash the 4G GS. its still slow and overweight compared to those other cars. Hell, the RSX type S was rated above the 3G GT.

Mitsu isant really intrested in making the eclipse a major performance car but more worried about how it looks. Its wider than opra's ***, which adds weight, but looks good. Kinda like the toyota celica. They used to come awd and boosted, all trac, but now they look good, but dont move too quick. BTW did toyota develop the new supra yet?

The Eclipse has a WELL KNOWN history of being overweight and underpowered (Not saying there isn't MASSIVE potential). It's a known thing and I really wasn't expecting them to change it for '06.

The stock 1g gs runs a 15.9 in the 1/4 mile where the stock 2g rs<which is 400 pounds lighter than the gs> runs a 16.8. They share very similar motors, 4g63 n/a and the 420a. Both 2.0 dohc motors. The 1gs weigh less.
