Daytime Running Lights...They Suck.
Whats up guys? Im new to the forum but not new to DSM. A little history about myself. I have owned two first gens. A 92 Eclipse and a 93 Talon. Ive owned two second gen. a 96 Eclipse RS which I converted to a 99 with projector headlights, and 17" Evo wheels, and a 97 Talon ESI. We also have an 03 eclipse gt. I purchased a week ago an 06 gs. I love this car. Its got the sportronic shift, beautiful liquid silver paintjob and the sun and sound package. My only gripe is its got daytime running lights. I dont drive a GM anymore (I traded in a 99 firebird for the eclipse) so I dont wan the running lights. Does anyone Have a safe method of disabeling the running lights? Thanks for the help.

No, there is a way. My friend from work has a galant which is the same platform as the eclipse. Same engine, same electronics, same wiring, same ecu. There is a pin on the inside of the front ecu ( the red thing in the fuse box) that if you remove disables the running lights. DRLs are not required by law in any state or they would come standard on all new vehicles. thanks for responding.

YEAH! thats the link that I saw too. I didnt go through with it tho. Im a pretty good mechanic but I would rather not mess with cutting any links in an ecu. I dont want to risk any future problems with it. plus I hear that part is really expensive.

You do not need to cut the pin, just bent it all the way so it touches (or almost touches) the side of the box...I was afraid to do this as well but I was suprised how easy it was, plus you can always bend it back into place...my DRL is disabled .
