ok so therefor when the power for the amp is on the leds are on also. and what i understand, you them to be independent from that?

if so, splice a wire off your hotwire and run it to a switch and then run the leds to the switch you should be alright.

hope this helps, i always get confused on the grounds though, but i think this is right.

yes i believe it would. you are cutting the power off at the source. i havent spliced a wire since i had my lumina. but i rigged up a bunch of leds in that car to a switch and the hot wire was a splice of another. give me a few days or a week...ill test it out. i am short of time as of right now, also ill post some pics of what i did.

just dont do anything harsh yet. just give me some time and ill produce a solution.
