new owner

Purchasing a 2008 Outlander 2.4 with 107km (65k miles), badged ES but with upgrade equipment (?!) galore. Feel good about Mitsu reliability but somewhat intimidated by CVT, 2.4 rep for coarseness and low power, and amount of (very expensive) dealer maintenance required to maintain 160k powertrain warranty. Any comments to decrease (or increase) my concern?
Live along Lake Huron in southwestern Ontario.
