Default 1990 eclipse turbo

does any one out there know why the cam belts seem not to be connected to the crankshaft my manual shows a key and keyway. is this a common problem,whats the likelyhood of the nose of the crank being broken? any idea's thanks EXSUBE

If the crank was broke the car wont run. The crank is down the cams ar up and there are pulleys in between. it has to be connected other wise if you try to turn over you might have a valve problem after from vavles hitting the pistons
