My friend's 2000 Eclipse was rearended while waiting at a red light the other day. The other driver claimed that the mitsu changed lanes and slammed into him - as a result my frined got cited and has to pay for all the damages.</P>


I was wondering if the 2000 Eclipse has an Event Data Recorder in the airbag system... And does it record near-deployment events? (The airbags were not deployed, but the accident was about 10-15mph.</P>


All he would need to do is show that the car was not moving in the seconds leading up to the crash and he will be exhonorated...</P>

 

it records data up to the point a check engine light comes on and the air bag deployment ...so yes if he was standing still when hit the computer will tell you the rpm speed temp you name it
