4G94 block + 4G92 head - problem.
Hi all,
I am new here. And I have a serious problem with my setup.
I recently helped a friend, who owns a Lancer 4G92.
I changed the block, pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft with 4G94, and only the cylinder head I am using back the 4G92 MIVEC.
The engine starts, but at idling, each time when I step on the accelerator, it keep knocking. What seems to be the problem? Do I need to do other modifications? Or anything else to solve this problem. The power is also not so good when I try to rev the engine hard.
Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Cheers,
Simon

Yes the ignition timing has been adjusted to as low as 5 deg BTDC. And when strobed with the timing light, and tried to pull the throttle by hand to get the knock. Noticed the timing is retarded a while before it goes back up. Is this normal? The knocking happens when the timing mark on the crank retards.
Thanks.
