Hi, I have a 1993 1.8 SOHC eclipse. When I put the key in and turn it to the on position, my car beeps 8-9 times (its hard to tell if its exactly eight or nine). My car is having problems starting, it turns over like a champ but wont start sometimes, its hit or miss. From what Ive read about the ECU's and the leaking cap, I think the ECU is bad.

Anyways, dose anyone know what this beeping means?

i doubt its the ecu. Could be a spark issue ora fuel issue

 

If i unhook my seatbelt and turn the key on, it gives me like 5 short one long. then i plug it in and it stops. Its not the passenger seat either.

Im just asking because, my ECU Has some corrosion from the cap that they say leaks on it. It turns over but starts only when it wants to.

Ive checked for fuel, Ive checked for spark, Ive checked the timing and nothing seems to solve the problem. If the ECU was the problem would I just have to get a new one and pop it in, then like magic all my problems are gone?

 

did u just buy it? did it just start doing this?

 

Bought it about 2 years ago. 60k miles on it now theres almost 80. It started last year somtime. and would happen every single day, some days better than others. depending on the weather IMO.
