Ibought a 98 Galant ES with a 2.4 that was not running. The previous owner claimed it needed a dist, Which I replaced. After I replaced itone plug fired once or twice but that was it.After searching the board I am thinking crank position sensor, Is there a way to test this? Any other items it could be that I can check? I have checked all the fuses and they are good, it is getting voltage to the coil and the module but no spark.

I have never heard the motor run and it has 180,000 miles, and the previous owners didn't take very good care of the car so I am afraid to put much money into it until I know the motor and trans are good.

personally... if it were me... i wouldn't but a non running vehicle which wasn't well taken care of w/o the expectation of swapping the motor. i think you've got the 4g64 in that car... you could go a/ a turbo motor swap you can get them for about 1100 i think.
