ASX 1.8 DI-D DPF regeneration
I talked with official Mitsubishi workshop from Slovenia. And my ECU was checked with another official Mitsubishi workshop.
Previous owner of the car (I bought it at 60 000 km) was mostly driving it in the city, so I'm figuring that caused the filter to loose it's capacity since it was probably constantly regenerating and never complete the cycle. When I bought it, the oil was very near the X mark.
I don't live in a city but last 10 minutes of my drive when going to work is limited to 50km/h. Average speed of my trip shows 40 - 45 km/h.
Btw. I noticed there is a click heard from dashboard just before the engine goes to that regen sound and it is also heard when it goes back to normal. Am I right about that ?
Another thing that bothers me is some strange resonating sound coming from the front when accelerating hard bellow 2000 RMP. I think that maybe it's due to some blockage in exhaust gasses or that again it could be coming from exhaust net shaking.

That noise below 2000 could either be a split pipe or a faulty EGR valve sticking. Both of which could be the likely cause of all your problems. I would advise getting them checked before wasting money on DPF clean.
Clicking noise? Not sure about hat one

Which pipe could be split, you mean air intake ?
About the sound, it is present, when engine is under heavy load and I push the throttle. If gearbox is in neutral, there are no strange noises when trying to rew-up.

Can I find this crack with endoscopic camera ? Is it located where exhaust manifold attaches to cylinder head ?
It is on the cylinder head, left hand side (gearbox end) You can see it with a camera, but there are lots of pipes nearby.
Check your intake hoses as well, they can split and cause frequent regens. Also sticky EGR can cause similar problems

What about EGR, where is it located ?
Thanks in advance.
As far as I read, many people have this problem with frequent DPF regenerations and fumes smell during. I still have frequent regenerations and oil level rising. If I use highways more often, that distance is aprox. 400 km, otherwise between 200 and 300 km.

My experience with this engine had been nothing short of traumatic. Many many hours fault finding and repairing a number of things, cleaning entire intake and exhaust system, and still there was no substantial improvement in dpf regeneration distances. Then about two months ago something went and it just started pouring blue smoke of of the exhaust and I couldn't get it up to highway speeds. It has been parked up now since then until I can get a decent span of time to start pulling it down again...
