Atenator
ok heres the problem. i have a 1996 eagle talon tsi or 1996 gst same thing. i changed the altenator but everytime i punch the car and its ready to change gears i see the battery light and the brake light come on. and when i let go of the gas the brake light and the battery light goes away .and sometimes when i start the car they stay on but when i drive for a little bit they go away Can anyone tell me what the problem is? how much voltage should a gst altenator push out because when they tested it it was pushing out 14 and thats what most altenators push out. plz help

RE: Atenator
sounds like a ground issue to me. check the block for the factory grounds and look to see if they are corroded or something of that nature. when you brake hard or punch it the motor is tilting in either direction pretty hard and that would cause a ground to move. heck for good measures create some new grounds with a grounding kit and that should give you some hp if you are already having a problem with grounds.

RE: Atenator
With a GST, its good to be @ 14.. A little Less is alright, but if its under 13.5 or so after driving awhile your altenator is going... But it should be right at 14, even when your driving. It may drop a little once in a while but not much.

I mean we hooked the machine up and it said the battery was charging at 14v. we where shaking the wires and trying to see if the light would come back on but it didint. it only comes on when i punch the car for some reason. Maybe its cause it sucks so much juice out the car?

RE: Atenator
When you give it gas, the altenator will be pushing out the most voltage, b/c the belt is spinning faster and winding the altenator faster... But if it is charging at 14 when its sitting still its not the altenator.. (My opinion). You could try the grounds like they mentioned... Have you had your battery tested?
