Default a board oil-indicator - HELP !!!

Hi everybody!

I drive Pajero '86 TDI and I have a problem with the indicator showing the oil compression.
The scale is from 0 to 8 and since couple of days the needle point at 0 and very rarely rises to the highest level and again to zero. The oil quantity in the motor is enough.
When it worked properly with engine starting the needle goes up to 6 then down to 2 and stays there till the engine is on.

What is the problem?

Is it only fauty indicator or something serious?

Thanks in advance!

Alex

It sounds like you have very low oil pressure and I would have a mechanice run some test on it. when you have low oil pressure then you engine parts arnt getting enough oil to safely coat your vital engine parts. So it would be in your best intrest to get it down to the shop asap
