Question brake lights not working???

wassup fellas, my girls truck has issues. the rear brake lights dont work, i checked all the light bulbs, good. i checked all the fuses under the hood and under the dashboard. good. so i was thinking there are alot of sensors on the truck so i topped off the brafke fluid thinking if there was a sensor there it was reading the proper amount on fluild that didnt work, so here i am, hoping someone out there has any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

could any part of the light system with a blown light cause the brake lights to stop working?

any and all suggestions are welcomed.. thanks

there is what is called a brakelight switch. look under ur dash, usually at the top of the brake pedal. its a push button switch. usually there is a tab with a hole in it and a rubber grommet. check to make sure that rubber grommet hasnt come out. ( if it has then find something to shove in there) if it hasnt come out check and make sure ur pedal is activating the switch. if so its probably bad. can be picked up from autoparts store.

there was a long spring about 8 or 9inchs long that poped off the brake petal, what was the other end(opposite end of petal) connected to? im now trying to get that switch out and test it with my volt meter? thanks very much
