braking problems

i owe an 02 Mitsubishi Lancer ES and i'm having problems w/ my brakes.
when i gently hit the brake i hear grinding noise and i can feel the car vibrate whenever i brake.
i took it to Midas and they said the brake pads are still%60 good.
could it be the rotor? can anyone help out?

RE: braking problems

Your rotors are warped. You need to heat cycle new rotors before using them normally.

Replace them with either factory rotors or get some brembo rotors that will never warp. If you are going to replace them with factory ones, take the car upto 100mph (or what ever you have the balls to do)and brake down to 70... and repeat this over and over. Just remember, being on the brakes for a split second is what warps them. It causes them to be un evenly heated.

what does it do by hitting the brake up to 70? does it increase the noise and the vibration?
