changeing valve cover gasket

Default changeing valve cover gasket

99 GST and the valve cover gasket is leaking. is this an easy job? what all do i have to remove to get the cover off?

there are bolts around the valve cover, just remove them it's an easy fix, just remember when you are putting it back in, not to overtorque the bolts, which is why i'm leaking oil.

Also make sure the car is not warm b/c you could strip out the threads, very simple job to do.

The head is aluminum and w/ its warm its easier to pull the threads out w/ the bolt. Thats why you change your plugs w/ the engine cold.

OHHH that makes perfect sense.... didnt think about that.... thnx, do you recommend sillicone or liquid gasket on it? or the gasket is more than enough?

The gasket should be more then enough, just make sure the gasket surface is clean and not nicked.

Im asking cuz im actually planning on do this as well... i think that gasket hasnt been changed in forver... plus its leaking somewhere... problem is the 420a has this funny lil half moon thing on it that makes it harder o_O

well i wasn't paying attention to the bolts and kept torquing, all of a sudden a little snap, then the wrench kept turning..... ****.[/align]
