Default cheap parts

I am just now getting to the point beyond general upkeep on my wife's 2000 galant. I am finding that a lot of parts seem to be dealer only. Are there any "cheaper" dealers you guys know of, or any good online O.E to mild performance dealers? I am currently in need of a coil for the 2.4 and $162 seems ridiculous to me considering the msd pack for my 98 Neon was only $68. Thanks for the help in advance.

Your best bet would be ebay, there are always things for cheap, plus they have factory and aftermarket parts.

lol Now I am the Galant expert. You really don't need a coil for the Galant. If you want to up your ignition start with some Magnecor wires and your choise of high end plugs. Our computers are very smart with the adaptable ECU so even if you did change the coils as a first step you will be nulling the mod anyway once the ECU compensates. I would only suggest a MSD set up if your going turbo and I have only seen one 3G Eclipse (which shares the same engine as we do) use that set up.

I am not wanting to go high performance. This is my wife's daily commuter and kid hauler. I am just trying to find any info on where replacement or mild perfomance parts can be located. It is suffering from a #2 misfire that has been ran down to a bad coil... the local dealer's quote of around $160 seemed ridiculous.

lol Ok I see what your saying now. All you need is a replacement part then. Check out www.galantforums.com or www.thegalantcenter.net and post something in there For Sale forum. You might run into someone parting out a Galant. I have a friend here that is, but he is parting out a V6. I maybe able to hook you up but that is after I find out if I am approved with a wholesale account with a local dealership. At the very lest I can forward you to my POC at that dealership and he should be able to give you a better price but I won't find that out until Monday. If I don't post then remind me with a email...
