Default DownShifting?

When I try to down shift in my eclipse it wants to grind, do i have to wait for a certain speed to downshift or is that a sign that something is wrong with the tranny?

I drive my moms car and I can downshift at any speed to any gear...

Help...

and yes, I know how to drive a standard.

problem, if the synchros are working right you should be able to switch whenever you want within reason.

So, your saying the synchros are bad and that would keep me from down shifting?

I mean, I could be driving I push the clutch all the way in like your supposed to and I try to go from 4th to 3rd and it won't let me sometimes without grinding. A few times I tried to go from 5th to 3rd because I had to slow down really fast and it let me. Yeah, it just wants to grind when I down shift...

Might be runnin low on clutch fluids too. There should be a lil resivour near then master cylinder, which also takes break fluid.
