ECLIPSE RS HELP?
hey i just bought an eclipse RS 1997 for my 1st car. It doesnt come equipeed w/power windows, or power locks, and soon i am goin to take this to school. What kind of alarms are there that arent too expensive but are good for the money? also, can i ever get power locks equipped on the eclipse if i purchase an Alarm? also, what are some cheap mods i can add, i already have catback, and AEM cold air intake... anything eles? thanx alot
welcome aboard <IMG src=smileys/smiley20.gif border="0">yes you can add power locks & windows. if you don't want to carry a bunch of remotes make sure the alarm you go w/ has universal relays for the door locks (if your concerned about keyless entry) for an inexpensive car alarm I have used bulldog they are not bad and some are completely upgradeable. They also make a pretty cool talking alarm ( I've been tampered with I've been tampered with) fun but not upgradeable<IMG src=smileys/smiley8.gif border="0">crimestopper is a decent inexpensive alarm system too ( completely upgradeable for around $100)
looks like on jcwitney.com(the first site I went to because I knew the carried this stuff) the top bulldog alarm is 129.99 and a powerlock/window conversion is 249.99 and they have good but not great prices so I'd call this an average. <edited><editID>madmat</editID><editDate>38123.4699189815</editDate></edited>
oooh.... thats sumthin pricy for door locks and power windows.. is there an alarm any1 can find that is good, but doesnt have keyless entry? just somethin i can rely on because im going to add much more(subs and headunit) and i dont want anything to get stolen. Thanx</P>
BestBuy has always been pretty good in low prices for car alarms and power locks combos. Atleast in my area. On my first talon, they did a complete installation of locks and alarm for about $230 and they used a Sidewinder System. They discontinued the Sidewinder andcarry a lower quality system now for the about same price. However, power windows might cost you a little bit more. You can get therelays and motors from a GS or GST/GSX, the wires for everything is already there in the car, and just install them yourself. But that's a job for a true electrician. OEM electrical stuff is hard to figure out sometimes.
