Engine Swap

Ok i have a 97 Mirage LS 4dr. was wondering if either one would fit in a mirage and also how much esxtra money it would be for all the supporting parts. Also if you have an idea of which would be the better choice that'd be nice to.

Eclipse 4G63T 89-94 2.0L DOHC TURBO - Engine, 5-Speed AWD Transmission

RE: Engine Swap

Engine mounts, accessory mounts, bellhousing bolt pattern, and all interface points are identical on all these engines. The only thing you need to be concerned with when going from the normally aspirated engine in your car to the Turbo is that you will need to use the ECM and all engine sensors from the Turbo car. Good luck with the swap!

RE: Engine Swap

If your Mirage has the 2-liter engine in it already, it's the same engine as the twin-cam turbo except for the SOHC cylinder head (engine code 4G63 for the SOHC 2-liter). This engine should perform very well with a turbo, and would run very close to the twin cam.

However, if you have the 1.8 liter single-cam, I doubt that it would live up to the performance potential of the 2-liter twin cam turbo, no matter how much boost you tried shoving through it. No substitute for cubes...
