mid throttle stumble

I just got a 98gsx and it stumbles at mid throttle in any gear but usually goes away about 5k rpm. This is my first import so I'm kinda lost. I don't know if it's a bad turbo, sensor, screwy combo of mods, etc. Any ideas??? Thanks

RE: mid throttle stumble

it really could be anything but my first guess it that it either needs a new air filter, or it needs new spark plugs. Both are cheap so it cant hurt to change them

are your check engine light on?

The check engine light is not on. I was told to try changing the O2 senser so maybe a tune up as well. I'll try this weekend and see what happens. Thanks for the reply's.

4 ngk's, 1 set of wires, washed the air filter, 20 minutes later she runs like a raped ape:D:D I've stll gotto change the o2 sensor because it's real rich. Thanks for the info, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.

Okay, the car ran good for about 150 miles then it started missing again. Changed the O2 sensor today and no change...still rich...still stumbles...#%&*@#%...guess it's time to try to pull codes?[:@]

RE: mid throttle stumble

I changed the one before the turbo...I had 3 different people tell me that was the most important. Is that wrong?? Now to feel really stupid, what is CEL?

RE: mid throttle stumble

Well really the one that is more important as far as ive thought is the one after the cat. because thats the one that test the emmisions after it has supposedly been "cleaned". And if thats not reading then it doesnt know how well its performing. Because ive had that one go and my mileage really suffered for it.

CEL=Check engine light. And just so you know if you have any questions about what something means then check here
