Mirage monitor problem please help!
OK so I am looking to buy this 98' mirage from a friend of a friend... well I've bought enough cars to know that the cars monitors should all be reset before buying for smog purposes. Well I plugged it in and about 4 or 5 monitors weren't set... this is a red flag, because the seller could have just disconnected the battery to clear an engine light he assuredme he had not, and reallyI didn't believe him lol. So we agreed that I would drive it for 200 miles and surely they would be set by then or an engine light would come on... well i ended up putting 435 miles on it before checking the monitors again... And to my dismay... still not set. I was told to google how to drive so they'd reset... from that I learned a lot, like the dealer can reset them if need be. So I figured I'd give em a shout. I was told that they can't reset them but can run a $217.18 diagnostic and "see whats going on" then he said it very well possibly could need a "throttle body adjustment" well this all sounds to expensive for an old car. So I googled throttle body adjustment mitsubishi mirage and I am seeing the how toos' on a TPS adjustment. Now my question is,... is that what they were going to do at the dealership and do you think it'd be a good idea to go at alone...
